Keeping on Track with Holiday Blog Content

Disclaimer: Prepare yourself, this article will have puns…and lots of them. What self-respecting blog post about seasonal/holiday content wouldn’t?! You’ve been warned, now buckle up kiddo.

At Lately, we love a good celebration and if you think about it, on most days there’s a reason for some seasonal cheer. Whether it’s International Beer Day or International Coffee Day, we’re thirsty for some on-trend content.

Highlighting holidays and building social content around them is an awesome way to show off your business’ personality, boost engagement and have a bit of fun.

BUT, there’s so many holidays that we think you’re going to need a hand remembering them all…*waves* cue Lately!

Coordinate the heck out of your Calendar

Our Marketing Calendar is your second brain. And this is where you’re gonna pop in all of the seasonal events, celebrations and on-trend currents affairs to remind you to create some killer content.

Work out which themes you’re especially crazy about, enter them on the calendar and use our handy tagging system to remind you and your team about creating social content.

Use the easy-peasy drag-and-drop feature to instantly reschedule content when you need to as well. It’ll change across any of the channels you’ve synced with your calendar too – hey presto!

You can integrate your Lately calendar with Gmail, Outlook, iCloud or Yahoo calendars too, to create a megatron of calendars that will one day take over the world muahaha.

Oh, and we’ll automatically add the totally awesome content you publish as new entries on your calendar to show everyone what you’ve been up to ☺

Seasonal Events, you say? Which ones?

Which holidays and events can you keep an eye out for? It’s also smart to take a look at what’s trending or any current news throughout the day to see if you can get involved and create content too.

  • We’re nearing one of the biggest holiday seasons already…Christmas! Channel your inner Mariah Carey, grab the eggnog and get Christmas all wrapped up with some crackers content. Santa Claus is coming to town, so schedule him into your calendar for a visit and launch 12 days of seriously Christmassy content.
  • STEM Day is super important, especially in our neck of the woods. We love to show our audience why STEM (science, tech, engineering and math) is cool to study, an inspiring field to work in and what we’re doing to help open up opportunities to keen young whippersnappers. It just makes sense, you do the math!
  • Oo arr me hearties! Ahoy matey, tis all hands on deck for Talk Like a Pirate Day. Set sail on ye Jolly Roger and look in Davy Jones’ Locker for some swashbucklin’ content treasure. Shiver me timbers!
  • Here’s another one that’s a pleasure to celebrate! National Women’s Equality Day is about highlighting and empowering the badass women that work with you and support you every day, like we do at Lately. You can shift the focus to schemes you’ve got goin on, outreach work, anything you like that shows what women’s equality means to you and your business.
  • Don’t miss out on National Lazy Day on August 10. I mean, ironically, you could do absolutely nothing I guess…
  • Okay, here we go, it’s time for the big dawgs… literally. National Dog Day is a sure-fire way to boost engagement by showing off your furry friends, asking to see your audience’s precious pooches and basically being thankful for all the tops dogs in our lives, from dachshunds to Dalmatians. There’s a woof-ton of content to be created.
  • World Kindness Day is a sweet way to offer some extra special deals and content for your audience cos you love them so dearly! You can also share what your business does to help your community and any charity work you do too.

Hopefully that’s given you lots of ideas for content already and you’re filling up your Lately Marketing Calendar right now! Or at least, you’re going to be talking like a pirate for the rest of the day, oo arrr.

And if you’re like us and would love an exhaustive list of silly and off-calendar holidays, keep reading!
