Lately Live with Ian Utile – How to Use Live Streaming to Win Customers (the Real Skinny!)

CEO of attn.live, a fantastic live streaming platform, Ian knows a little something about going live. Most brands focus on pumping out polished infographics and videos, so what makes live streaming SO powerful that it has the potential to be better than both of those things? You’ll find out on today’s episode. Unless you put your fingers in your ears and scream “la la la la”… so don’t do that and you’ll be fine!

The Audience is Everything.

Each platform has their own unique audiences, while one person can use many platforms, they may use them in different ways. For instance, Twitter could be used for information and news, Instagram used for more personal use, and Facebook is where you keep “in touch” with those people from college you’ve basically completely forgotten about except for when their kids pop up on your feed.

It can be hard to know exactly who your audience is, but the better grasp you have on it, the better you can target your content to these audiences to really give the people what they want.

“If you don’t know your audience, it is going to be a little bit tough for you to have success because you have to have empathy for the person on the other side of the camera, on the other side of the podcast, on the other side of the article that they’re reading”.

Once you recognize which audience you have on which platform, your all set to put out tons of content catering to each audience! That way the people get the information they want, grow that trust with the brand, and feel comfortable looking into the brand further by maybe checking out the website or blog.

“You can’t just take one piece of content just shove it through every platform consistently”. Exactly Ian, great point. If you do that, your content will feel bland and will seem overwhelming to those who follow the brand on multiple platforms.

This is even more important when it comes to live streaming. There are going to be vastly different audiences from Facebook Live, to Instagram Live, to a streaming service like Twitch. Each platform has its own viewers who might primarily use that platform to see what your brand is all about.

The Future!

What is the future for live streaming? Hear Ian’s expert opinion: “I believe the future of live streaming is audio, and I believe it’s because for content creators, it takes all the pressure off. Like, I could live stream audio, pretty much 10 hours a day”.

Realistically, you could live stream audio for HOURS and hours without stopping. While you’re shopping, lounging around, on a walk outside, pretty much everything except sleeping!

The accessibility of livestreaming makes it an every-growing platform to reach different audiences. More and more people are going to discover the magic you can create through simply going live. You’re going to want to find ways to stand out from the others, and that starts right now! The sooner you start livestreaming and connecting with your audience, the stronger your bond with that audience will grow.

So pick up your phone, go live, and say hi to your audience. Answer questions, clarify aspects of your product or service, and get to know them as humans instead of just usernames or numbers.
